The overall quality of a project schedule directly corresponds with project success or failure. However, weeding through thousands of activities and relationships trying to identify errors or flaws is a tedious and time-consuming process. Additionally, trying to use Microsoft Excel to analyze schedules leaves room for error and limits the analysis. Fuse has simplified project quality analysis and reporting to mere minutes through the use of pre-built schedule quality assessment metrics, which can be modified to meet project or company specific criteria.
Use Fuse to identify activities with high duration, negative float, open ends, or constraints within not only the project as a whole but within specific groups of activities such as WBS, contractor, location, or path. Additionally, use Fuse to run industry specific quality checks such as those from the DCMA and the GAO, or create a set of standard metrics to be used company-wide.
Example Schedule Analysis options within Fuse:
- Review schedule maturity through DCMA 14 Point Assessment or GAO best practices metric libraries
- Identify activities with hard and soft constraints as well as the type of constraint
- Pinpoint high duration activities or activities with missing predecessors/successors
- Determine overall planning quality of activity groups such as location, WBS, contractor, or path
- Create standard schedule quality criteria to be used company-wide
- Analyze logic links and identify errors and complexities
- Analyze activities with negative or high float
- Zero in on leads and lags
