Dr. Dan Patterson, PMP is the founder of Acumen and is a recognized thought leader and visionary within the project management industry. Prior to starting Acumen, Dan was Executive VP at Pertmaster leading the Americas business unit from inception to its acquisition by Primavera. Dan is also responsible for developing a now widely accepted integrated qualitative/quantitative approach to risk analysis through facilitated risk workshops. His depth of knowledge extends well beyond risk into schedule analytics and project optimization.
Dan has a proven track record across multiple industries including Aerospace & Defense, Government, Energy and EPC.
As CEO of Acumen, and inventor of Acumen Fuse, Acumen 360, and Acumen Risk, Dan continues to push the boundaries to create solutions that help better the project management community.
Steve Cook

Steve Cook has over 30 years of experience in the project management software industry, co-founding Welcom (WST Corp.) in 1983. He conceived and co-authored Open Plan, the company’s flagship critical path scheduling tool and then became involved in all aspects of the business, taking keen interest in customer satisfaction and expanding the company’s product range. In the mid 1990s he took the role of Vice President of Sales. In March 2006, while Steve was President/CEO of Welcom, the company was purchased by Deltek® and he remained as Vice President of EPM Product Management until November 2006. Welcom received a number of awards and recognition including Inc 500 rankings, Entrepreneur of the Year and PC Magazine Editor’s Choice.
Steve now serves as Chairman of Acumen.
Daniel Pereira

With over a decade of experience in product engineering, Daniel Pereira serves as a guiding hand on Acumen’s growing project analytics software offerings. As Vice President of Engineering, Mr. Pereira manages and develops the Acumen tools portfolio with a keen eye to business demands and client needs.
Prior to joining Acumen in its inception phase, Mr. Pereira managed award-winning engineering teams, and was involved in every facet of information technology and product development from systems design phase to application deployment. Preceding his work in project management software, Mr. Pereira successfully led the development of numerous applications including a web-based risk and safety management system for a major petroleum company.
Under Mr. Pereira’s guidance, the Acumen Fuse platform has become faster and more robust with each release, and expanded to include three additional modules.
Tom Polen

For 18 years, Tom Polen has scoped, designed, developed, and implemented scheduling and earned value management systems (EVMS) in the telecommunications, transportation, insurance, and defense industries. Tom believes in customizing tools to match specific organizational processes and needs. Tom’s overall vision is to help the project management field to focus on analysis, rather than the development of data and information used to support analysis.
Tom believes that too much manual, repetitive work is performed for the sake of project performance measurement. A strong focus on automation combined with an understanding of customers’ decision support needs will yield a system which reduces the leg-work for EVMS and increase quality. As Acumen’s Director of Professional Services, Tom focuses on leveraging his experience to help organizations seamlessly integrate Acumen software with existing business processes while supporting the user base with resources and outreach.
Jenn Weber

As one of the core Acumen team members, Jenn oversees the marketing, messaging and positioning of Acumen’s software and services. A member since before the launch of Acumen’s first product offering, Jenn is an expert on the ins and outs of each Acumen product. Jenn has has a proven reputation for product and services marketing stemming from almost eight years of experience and has successfully developed marketing strategies for products spanning several industries including technology, investment properties, non-profit organizations, and consulting. Jenn manages Acumen’s brand, product messaging, customer relations, event planning and public relations while working with the software engineering team to shape user interface and overall product look and feel.
